Start with the operating requirement
Describe whether the generator is for portable backup, a jobsite, a commercial project or another use. Runtime expectations, mobility, environment, service access and load profile affect the selection.
Compare the electrical output
Rated power and peak power should be recorded separately. Confirm voltage, frequency and phase for the destination market. A generator that looks suitable by kW may still be unsuitable if its electrical output does not match the installation.
Compare the physical format
Open-frame, enclosed, silent and inverter descriptions should be treated as configuration terms that require evidence. Confirm the actual housing, controls, outlets, noise data and starting method for the exact model.
Ask for model-specific documentation
Request the nameplate image, datasheet, manual and applicable certification information. If two models share an image, ask the supplier to confirm whether the image is representative or model-specific.
